3 Squares Cafe

We try to stop here whenever we drive to northern Vermont. Great place for lunch, good food, friendly people. Menu is a bit limited, and on sub-zero days a lot of cold air comes in whenever door opens (no double doors)

Food was good but be aware they run out of their specials. We had pulled chicken tacos. Two tacos beans and rice. Very fresh, but taco shells were tough.

The food here was amazing! We stopped for lunch on our way to Burlington. They had some great beers and ciders available too. There is no table service, you must order at counter and your food will be brought out to you. The employees were friendly and the service was fast even during a lunch rush.

Excellent food. Wife loved her fried chicken sandwich. Burger was very good. As always very good !!

This is one of my go to spots in Vergennes. The food and service is typically solid, but it lacks the consistency for me to give it 5 stars. Better for breakfast and lunch than for dinner IMO.

Had my first experience at 3 Squares, and it was lovely. Cozy, inviting space, very friendly service and the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich was generous in portion and flavor. Highly recommend!

Cute little café that's open past 5pm! That's hard to find in this area.

A friend recommended this cafe, and I was not disappointed. Panini was as large as it was delicious.

This place has high quality cafe-style food, with a foodie leaning. The prices seem a little high, but they might be worth it. You order at the cash, then sit down. They bring your food to you when it us ready. There aren't a lot of tables. You might have get your food to-go if they are busy.

Food was delicious and filling. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Will definitely go again the next time I'm in Vergennes.

The best lunch in Vergennes is at 3 Squares but make sure to come early and get the seat you want. Good for early group dinners too. Catch them soon before they move to their new location!

I liked the food and the many different choices on the menu but I prefer the simple diners' menus and their general price range that you can find elsewhere.

The food here is delicious and reasonably priced. The portions are generous, I have never left the place hungry. Make sure you check out the specials, last weeks Eggs Benedict with kielbasa hit the spot. Also another top tip, opposite the coffee station, check out 3 Squares home made hot sauces, delicious!

We were on our way to an appointment in New Haven, and found that we were an hour early. Being lunchtime, we decided to Google this place, and gave them a try. What an unexpected pleasure. The meals were delicious, seasoned perfectly, and the restaurant staff were great. We go down to New Haven, every couple of months. We will now plan this trip including a meal at 3 Squares Cafe.

This is a charming Cafe in little downtown Vergennes, Vermont. We enjoyed our meal of a delicious hamburger and their fries... In a cute setting. A variety of eclectic things on the menu and well-prepared. My only warning is it is not inexpensive, so if you've got a bunch of children you might want to rethink it?

We had breakfast there this morning. I chose the blueberry and chocolate chip pancake with a cup of very good coffee. The pancakes are a from scratch recipe as is everything that is served here. My husband prefers the plain pancake. We both had real VT Maple syrup. Waitress was very pleasant.

To fancy for there own good. I just want a breakfast sandwich and a place to do work in Vergennes. Also it’s a Café and it doesn’t have WiFi, like what!? You have to use Vergennes free WiFi which is slower then death itself. But there food is excellent none-the-less and everyone is very nice there!

I have lived in Vergennes for over 3 years and love going to 3 Squares. It provides a friendly atmosphere and great quality comfort food. Chef Matt Birong and his team are great at preparing three square meals with a good kick of originality. Specials are fun to try out as they try different cuisines. I like the "Green Eggs & Ham" for breakfast and enjoy the Restaurant Week meals as they go for really cool sophisticated and tasty dishes.

Low key, seat yourself place with excellent food. Great place to catch up with friends over a meal any time of day.

Pretty over priced for what you get. The food was good (but pancakes are not worth $12... come on). There is nice outdoor seating and nice and the staff was very friendly. We hit this spot after a camping trip (very hungry) and the food still fell short. We had the strawberry pancakes and tofu scramble. The portions were pretty generous.The tofu was seasoned well and the home fries were great. Unfortunately (or fortunately - depending on the person) everything was sitting in a pool of oil from the fries. The pancakes were fine. Looked pretty, but lacked in flavor. Maybe we ordered the wrong stuff? Everyone else seemed pretty happy, and the place was pretty full. I think I'm a little bias here because we paid so much and the food was just ok.

The price is my only reason for a 4 star rating. 3 people eating breakfast for $43 was a little much. But the food was delicious!! Yes definitely stop in. We were cutting through on a road trip and this little gem popped up. Honestly the BEST falafel I've ever had! And the dressing on the side salad was to die for!!! My husband had a ham and cheese omelet it looked good and my son had the pancakes which also looked great light and fluffy.

The customer service is always great and they greet me by my name! Love coming here for any meal. Matt, Bianca, CC, Mary and Tim are always so friendly and I love seeing them.

This little place is definitely the city hot spot for a reason! The food is delicious, fresh, and fairly priced. The menu is eclectic and exciting - from french toast, to tacos, to paninis, to a mederteranian platter with pita and eggplant hummus. There is definitely something for everyone. Great homemade sourdough bread grilled cheese sandwich with local cheddar too. Sometimes I dream about it (and it's on the KIDS menu!) Love going here every chance I get.

Really awesome little place! I'm a vegan, but my husband eats meat, and we both had no issues selecting dishes we liked. I got the Greek tofu scramble and it was was one of the most flavorful, creative vegetarian/vegan breakfasts I've had anywhere. Fast, friendly service and I loved the decor, too! It was kind of a fun mix of farmhouse chic and industrial. We'll definitely go back!

We had the chicken sandwich and the pork tacos. Also tried to hot cocoa. Everything was fantastic. Only reason it's not five stars is that some of the rice in the rice and beans side wasn't cooked through. Everything else was fabulous.

Great local spot for breakfast, lunch or casual dinner. Order at the counter and they bring it to your table. For breakfast, 3 squares excels in the French toast and pancake department, and they serve breakfast till 3. Pretty sure this is the only real breakfast spot in town; some other places only do brunch on weekends from about 10:30 on so for early birds 3 squares is the answer. The coffee is also good here. They make a great sandwich, soup or salad for lunch. If you order something on focaccia, prepare for it to be very thick cut. For dinner, try the fennel sausage pasta in a tomato cream sauce; it is delicious. They also have a dessert case and beer (bottles/cans) and wine.

You wouldn't think you would get 5 star food & serve from a small cafe. Excellent food big portions!!! 5 stars aren't enough for this cafe!!! Yum

Really nice breakfast and lunch. Some vegetarian/vegan options. Popular with visitors and locals. Coffee was strong and flavorful. Tofu scramble was generous and tasty. Only thing was the constant slamming door - such a lovely day to sit outside, but that means going in and out and there were complaints from the people sitting inside.

Hands down the best breakfast burrito I've ever had. Vermont's game is strong.

This is an amazing place! This is a must stop to eat. The staff was friendly and atmosphere was cozy. We stopped for breakfast and it was delicious. My husband's breakfast burrito was best ever had. Fresh ingredients and a great kick of spice. The blueberry almond pancakes 😍.
